VettedHome helps homeowners understand a home job, what it typically costs, which grants or rules apply, and then matches them to a vetted trade. This policy explains how we source our figures, who is accountable for the words, how we fact-check, and how to ask for a correction. The short version: every figure is tied to a named UK source, a named editor stands behind the site, our vetting standards are stated honestly, and nothing is published unverified.

How we source

Every figure we publish is cited to a named, official UK primary source. We draw on gov.uk and legislation.gov.uk for law and grants, the Energy Saving Trust for energy and renewables costs, the certification and standards bodies (MCS, TrustMark, Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, the Property Care Association) for accreditation, and Companies House for company information. Where a number cannot be tied to a named source, we present it as indicative or leave it out rather than estimate. We do not invent statistics, and we present trade cost ranges only as indicative, with the source shown.

Who edits this site

The editor accountable for VettedHome's coverage, editorial standards and sourcing is Adam Parker. His role is editorial oversight and source discipline: he checks that claims are backed by a named source, that the vetting standards are described honestly, and that corrections are handled promptly.

Honesty about vetting

Our brand is the word "vetted", so we are careful to define it honestly. We publish the standards we require of listed trades, we are explicit about which standards are publicly verifiable on a free official register and which are self-declared by a firm, and we tell homeowners how to check a trade themselves before any work starts. We do not claim to audit every individual firm continuously.

Independence

VettedHome is free for homeowners and is paid by the trades it matches you to. Our editorial coverage is independent of that commercial relationship: who pays does not influence what we cover, how we describe a job, or the standards we require. We are an introducer, not a lender or installer.

Use of AI tools

AI tools may assist with drafting and research, but they do not decide what is true. Every published claim is checked against a named source by the editor before it goes live. A figure that cannot be traced to a named source is removed or marked as indicative rather than left as fact.
